Autoimmune & Infectious Diseases - IIFT

Indirect Immuno Fluorescence Testing (IIFT) is the GOLD Standard for diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. The advantage of IIFT is it's high specificity. This results in the potential to recognize even a weak specific signal in spite of strong unspecific accompanying reactions.

IIFT uses tissues and cell lines as substrate and this offers the entire antigen spectrum for identification. This facilitates simultaneous detection of a larger number of antibodies.

Euroimmun employs modern production processes to develop a number of exclusive and efficient techniques - the BIOCHIP technology and the TITERPLANE technique. Both these are patented.

BIOCHIP Technology

Euroimmun has formulated a unique method, similar to the one used by the electronics industry in manufacturing electronic microchips.

Cover glasses are coated with cells, tissue sections or other biological substances and are then cut into millimeter-sized fragments (BIOCHIPS) on a machine. The BIOCHIPS are then glued onto a slide using a computer-controlled device.

Benefits

  Opportunity to place two or more BIOCHIPS (of different substrates) on the same reaction field and test a
     single sample.

  Using as many as 30 different substrates on one slide, a detailed antibody profile or infectious disease
     panel can be tested.

TITERPLANE technique

The samples are applied onto a reagent support slide. The biochip slide is then placed on top of the reagent support slide when the BIOCHIPS come in contact with the sample. This methodology eliminates the need for use of a humidity chamber and thus allows testing of any number of samples at a time under identical laboratory conditions.
